Amtrol-Alfa, founded in 1962, has consolidated its position as the largest gas cylinder manufacturer in Europe and one of the leading global exporters. Five decades of experience, an impressive list of patents and a track record of intensive research have propelled the company to a leading position in the market.

The challenge

The growing need to modernise and outsource essential services, such as Security, Networks and Systems, accelerated Amtrol-Alfa's search for a reliable technology partner. The company also had the goal of implementing a disruptive technology project in the sector. It was imperative that this partner not only provide quality support, but also work closely with Amtrol, ensuring a synergistic relationship.

Choice of partnership

CPCECHO emerged as a natural choice. Amtrol-Alfa already had prior experience with some members of the CPCECHO team, which strengthened the trust and conviction that it would be the ideal choice. CPCECHO's size, knowledge, quality of service and agility made it the perfect partner for Amtrol-Alfa's requirements. "We had worked with some members of CPCECHO in the past, who we knew to be excellent professionals, trustworthy and with proven experience. This prior relationship further reinforced the conviction that choosing CPCECHO as a partner was the best decision to meet our needs", explain Filinto Veloso, Software Engineer and Joaquim Mendes, Windows System's & Network Administrator. Furthermore, they believe that CPCECHO's size was a "perfect fit" with the type of partner they were looking for: knowledge, quality of service and agility.

Implementation of solutions

With CPCECHO's collaboration, Amtrol-Alfa designed a completely new network infrastructure, replacing the previous network, which was outdated and had several vulnerabilities. The project was based on three pillars:

Network Passives: The use of redundant OM4 multimode optical fibre revolutionised connectivity between different parts of the organisation.

Network Actives: Cutting-edge equipment, such as the Aruba CX 6405 and the Aruba 6200F series, was incorporated, raising the network's capacity and efficiency.

Network Management: With the implementation of Aruba Central, Amtrol-Alfa adopted a cloud-based solution, enabling more simplified and integrated management.

On the DataCenter front, the company underwent a complete renewal, opting for HPE DL380 Gen 10Plus servers and storage via HPE Alletra 6000. This renewal focused on resilience and the modernisation of operations.

Impact and benefits

The strategic partnership with CPCECHO redefined Amtrol-Alfa's internal operations. With a more robust and modern infrastructure, the company experienced remarkable stability and service availability. Agility and efficiency became hallmarks of daily operations, thanks to CPCECHO's continuous and personalised support.

Ongoing relationship

The daily relationship between Amtrol-Alfa and CPCECHO is characterised by excellence and speed. CPCECHO not only provides technical support, but has also built a relationship of trust, becoming a key strategic partner for Amtrol-Alfa's growth and innovation. "This strategic collaboration has been fundamental in driving Amtrol-Alfa towards success. CPCECHO has always managed to give us a quick response to the questions and challenges raised by our team", report Filinto Veloso, Software Engineer and Joaquim Mendes, Windows System's & Network Administrator.

Conclusion

In a VUCA business environment (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous), the partnership between Amtrol-Alfa and CPCECHO is a testament to the power of effective collaboration. Strategic outsourcing has proven beneficial for Amtrol, allowing it to focus on its core activities while relying on CPCECHO's expertise to keep its technology up to date and competitive. Furthermore, it allowed Amtrol to maintain competitiveness and innovation in the sector in which it operates, without the need to invest in its own resources to handle occasional or specialised requests. "This strategic collaboration ensured that the company was always prepared to face technological and market challenges, allowing it to differentiate itself from its competition", admit Filinto Veloso and Joaquim Mendes.
