Without a consistent and effective Patch Management strategy, companies' business is at risk, since security flaws can lead to performance breakdowns, unexpected service outages (downtime) and cyberattacks.

The Patch Management process requires organisations to maintain continuous attention, dedicate resources and expertise, which, without automation, scale, expertise or risk measurement capability, becomes an unviable task over time.

According to one of the largest software producers, there were more than 100 vulnerability resolutions in April, two of which were zero-day bugs. These figures make clear the need to apply updates as quickly as possible and, on their own, highlight the importance that protection must have in corporate networks.

To respond to these challenges, CPCECHO provides a Patch Management as a Service offering with scale, automation and visibility. Integrated with a vulnerability assessment process, it comprises the automation of four distinct phases of the Patch Management process: discovery, testing, deployment and reporting. It is a service fully delivered as a SaaS, thereby ensuring that the service adoption phase is as short as possible.

Among the advantages of the Patch Management as a Service solution are: reduced risk of downtime and performance degradation; assurance of security patch application in response to exposed vulnerabilities; reduced exposure time to malware, ransomware or other forms of cyberattacks; assurance of the availability of new features in software products; preventive testing of patch application to mitigate risks of service interruption; scheduling and automation of security patch deployment on a weekly basis; and the creation of automated, easy-to-read reports.

Ricardo Sousa, Head of Technology at CPCECHO, states that "the Patch Management as a Service offering responds to the real needs and challenges of organisations and stands as a service for risk mitigation and business continuity assurance".
